Your support of the Blue Mountain Community Library is greatly appreciated. Along with your financial assistance, we are grateful for those who regularly visit the library and participate in our events.

We continue to remain open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and Monday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

It costs approximately $3,400.00 a month to run the library, not including the purchase of books.

In 2022, the library incurred special expenses beyond regular utility bills, insurance bills and supplies. It was necessary to replace the following items: the computer at the check-out desk, a computer battery backup and modem, an external hard drive, a printer, an entrance light, a light in our parking lot and parking lot signs. We also made improvements by installing a third light and pole in the parking lot, purchasing a wireless access point router and updating our Microsoft Word. All told, the necessary repairs and improvements cost the library $2,240.00.

Despite the challenges of COVID, the library continues to be as active as possible. Our adult book group meets the second Tuesday of each month. The Preschool Storytime Program meets bi-weekly throughout the school year with participants receiving craft supplies for each session. During the summer we hold a program for preschool through third grade children by providing books, activities and crafts.

The library receives no state funding and is entirely dependent on the continuous generosity of our patrons, volunteers, municipalities and fundraisers. The pandemic continues to dictate our fundraising efforts and has resulted in a loss of fundraising opportunities that normally yield $5,000.00. Your contribution is necessary to help us stay open, provide all of our programs, and purchase new books for you.

Please donate to keep your library not only functioning but flourishing!

Sincerely,

Valerie Viglione, Board President

Book Nook

The library offers used hardcovers and softcovers/paperbacks for adults and children, as well as DVDs, puzzles, and audiobooks for sale in the Book Nook on the second floor. Each item is marked with a price sticker.

Donations

Please show your support for the library, a valuable non-profit organization, by making a tax-deductible contribution. The library relies on your donations to continue its services. If you have items to donate to the Book Nook, please call the library to schedule an appointment.

Fundraisers

Can you help serve as a fundraising coordinator or assistant? If interested, speak with the library manager.

Scorecard Bar and Grill, 130 N. Broadway, Wind Gap:  Dine there on June 27.

Sundaes at the Summer Sounds Concerts in the (Weona) Park:  We will be selling sundaes on the following Sundays:  June 25, July 23, and August 6.

Weis Receipts

Turn in Weis receipts from within the past year, from the stores in Brodheadsville, Mt. Pocono, Lords Valley, East Stroudsburg (Eagle Valley), Marshalls Creek, Bangor/Pen Argyl, and Tannersville. Thank you!  The library receives 1% of most purchases listed on the receipts.

The library is operated by a group consisting of approximately twenty-five volunteers. It is thanks to our volunteers that the library thrives. The library is always looking for individuals to volunteer. If you would like to help us provide a valuable service to the community, you may fill out a form obtainable at the front desk.

The library is also currently seeking volunteers to help fundraise. If you are interested, please contact the library.
